May the Schwartz be with you. Mel Brooks will reprise his role as Yogurt in a SPACEBALLS sequel.  Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment to warp back into the galaxy with a hilarious follow-up to the 1987 sci-fi satire classic, and the announcement video hints at what's to come. 

Buckle up and engage ludicrous speed—the galaxy's most outrageous parody is officially back in action. Amazon MGM Studios today announced that a brand-new Spaceballs film is in development, with comedy legend Mel Brooks returning to reprise his beloved role as the wise-cracking Yogurt.

Directed by Josh Greenbaum (BARB AND STAR GO TO VISTA DEL MAR), the long-awaited sequel to the 1987 cult classic will blast into theaters in 2027. While plot details, the official title, and additional casting are being kept tightly under wraps, insiders have dubbed the film "a Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part

Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film"—a description only Spaceballs fans could truly appreciate.

The screenplay is penned by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem), and Josh Gad, who also serves as one of the film’s producers. The project is being produced by Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody of Imagine Entertainment, alongside Mel Brooks, Josh Gad, and Josh Greenbaum. Kevin Salter, Adam Merims, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez will serve as executive producers.

Mel Brooks, the iconic mind behind the original film, brings his signature blend of satire, slapstick, and sci-fi hijinks back to the screen, promising fans a new era of intergalactic absurdity.
