'Batgirl' Begins Production

Batgirl Movie News

HBO Max's BATGIRL movie has begun production with Leslie Grace as the DC character. Director Adil El Arbi announced the news on his Instagram account with an image of the slate above the desk of Barbara Gordon. It also reveals the new DCEU movie will be shot in 60 FPS for the streaming service.

BATGIRL is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (BAD BOYS FOR LIFE) from a script by BIRDS OF PREY writer Cristina Hodson.  There's no word whether the Batgirl movie will have any relation to the Robert Pattinson THE BATMAN, however, Gracie's Afro-Latino background may suggest she's related to Jeffrey Wright who's playing Gotham Commissioner Jim Gordon.

Grace is a three-time Latin Grammy-nominated singer who transitioned into acting with her first role in Jon M. Chu's IN THE HEIGHTS adaptation of Lin-Manual Miranda's hit Broadway musical.

No release date was given for the BATGIRL movie but THE BATMAN will hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
